Pet friendly, beautiful location and views. Would not recommend the restaurant in the lodge- to shorten the experience there -although my meal and the appetizers were delicious (other than spinach dip being watery) the 3 teens and 5 year old did not like their burgers they had chose and did not eat. My daughter had asked for a refill and she was told she needed to ask her waiter, one of the meals was forgotten about.. for a 280$ meal for 7 people I just overall would not recommend the restaurant. The rest of the workers/staff were amazing and helpful. Ski lift was beautiful. Close to the horse riding which I would recommend as well especially with a young one, so many activities that were cute! The trails were gorgeous around the cabins. I had forgotten a certain pillow needed for my back pain and once it was located they were sure to mail it back to me when I had called in!

This is such a nice place to stay when in Davis. The lobby decor is very pleasant, the rooms are nice, there are plenty of amenities, and the food is good. The price is also reasonable. I'll look forward to staying here anytime I return to Davis!

We had a great family visit to Canaan Valley Resort. The Lodge is in the middle of five different kinds of nature preserves. Our trip was a reminder of why West Virginia is called Wild & Wonderful and "Almost Heaven." We came from D.C. on the main highway but returned home via Harrisonburg, VA, affording us the opportunity to traverse lots of rural and mountain roads and enjoy the accompanying views.

Super beautiful site with excellent friendly staff. Food in the restaurant was distinctly subpar so I was glad we rented a cabin and cooked for ourselves for the most part. The cooking utensils were adequate (typical rental unit) but knives were not sharp and there were no condiments or spices or coffee or tea of any sort, so bring your own. Terrific "on demand" shuttle service between the resort and the ski area.

Perfect location for a get away and beginner skiers and snowboarders. The ski resort staff were awesome! Great lessons from Naomi and Wesley. They were also accommodating with the rain and a stomach bug that took is down for a day and rescheduling. Pub staff was friendly. They could turn down the club music a bit at 10:00 am though. Resort staff were attentive. They did not answer the phone when I called for some room service items but when I arrived in person they were very helpful. Christmas dinner was delicious. The spread was amazing but I would suggest food labels for allergies and the staff didn’t seem to know what items were. We picked up a cookie that was peanut butter and not labeled. We did try to eat at the restaurant two other nights and called to make reservations but no one returned our phone call. We wound up staying in due to a stomach bug. We also didn’t have the opportunity to try the Laurel Lounge in the lodge which looked fun and cozy. Ice skating was great and very nice staff. The Ice could use a shovel throughout the day though to make it easier to skate. Tubing hill was a lackluster so we skipped the adventure. The cabin for a larger family or group is highly suggested. Kitchen was stocked well enough but if you need specific items, you should bring them. Bring additional trash bags to have on hand. Bedrooms and bathrooms were large and overall clean. Beds were uncomfortable but it is a cabin and some beds didn’t have a mattress pad. One bed had dirty sheets but we were able to get new set. We really enjoyed our stay and would return. We also heard the summer months were awesome, so we are eager to check out the activities and hiking trails then. Thank you for a great stay!

Good place to stay if you are heading to timberline or the Canaan valley resort. Well located. Food is pretty good although the bar restaurant is a little small. The all you can eat buffet is really mid. Skip it. My one critique is that they have only one dryer working for the entire hotel, which is absurd for a lodge that serves a large number of skiers. Everything is wet by the end of the day. One dryer? Could be a deal killer, tbh.

We keep coming back year after year both during the summers and winters, and always have a pleasant stay. What spurned me to write this review is the phenomenal staff & service. Huge shout out to Chris from facilities who went above and beyond to help me de-ice my car roof box which was frozen shut after an ice-storm. Visit for the beauty of this area and it’s wonderful people—Thank You!!

The hotel was nice overall. The system let us request room upgrade a week or so before the arrival, but when we got there, the upgraded room wasn’t actually available. We ended up staying in our original room, which honestly wasn’t a big deal, but the hotel should probably fix that system so it doesn’t give false expectations. There were lots of fun things to do either on the hotel grounds or within a 20-min drive. Its a very family-friendly place. Arcade machines, skiing, snow tubing, ice skating (which was broken on our last day), a playroom, waterfalls, and sledding — plenty to keep everyone busy. The hotel has two on-site restaurants. The food was okay, but the wait times were really long and frustrating. On the first day, when the restaurant was almost empty, we waited close to 40 minutes. The second day, when it was busier, the wait was about an hour and a half. We enjoyed our stay in general. Will try to come back in the future.
